Electricity Short Circuit Sparks Fire in Pejagalan

An electrical short circuit in a house was suspected to be the trigger for the fire on Jalan Pluit Karya Karang 6, Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-district, North Jakarta.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman said, fire was reported yesterday night, precisely at 9:07 AM

"We sent 50 firefighters and 10 fire engines to the scene," he expressed, Wednesday (9/10).

He explained, they arrived at 9:24 PM and immediately started extinguishing the fire and containing it to prevent it from spreading.

"Fire was successfully extinguished at 10:40 PM or approximately 1.5 hours," he explained.

He added that this incident caused the homeowner a loss of up to Rp 50 million. Fortunately, 19 people were successfully rescued from the incident.

"No casualties or fatalities in the incident," he asserted.

Certainly, the quick response of the officers was appreciated by a resident, Willy (35).

"I'm grateful that they acted quickly to extinguish the fire so it wouldn't spread to the surrounding settlements," he stated.
